On November 4, 2010, Chicago Schweitzer Fellows hosted a symposium, “Tackling the Complex Health Issues of Marginalized Communities,” to explore the health needs of both drug users and trans-gendered youth and possible solutions to those challenges. The symposium featured Dr. Gregory Scott, a sociology professor and Director of the Social Science Research Center at DePaul University, and Linda Wesp, a Family Nurse Practitioner and Director of Adolescent Health Services at Howard Brown Health Center.

The Autumn 2010 edition of the Chicago Schweitzer Fellows Newsletter highlights Fellows’ projects and Program evaluation outcomes, and hopes to inspire others to “make their life their argument” and apply for the 2011-12 Fellowship. Features include articles by 2010-11 Fellows Carmen Cancino, a UIC College of Medicine student, and Francois Blumenfeld, a Midwestern College of Osteopathic Medicine student, along with information about the Program’s new documentary film.
