Healthcare Access for Incarcerated Youth Convening at Access Community Health

Health & Medicine Policy Research Group works to promote social justice and challenge inequities in health and health care through education, collaboration, research and policy reform. The Health & Medicine Court-Involved Youth Project is focused on strengthening the supports and services available to youth in their communities when they  return from incarceration. The Healthcare Access for Incarcerated Youth convening aimed to build bridges between healthcare providers, social service providers and juvenile justice staff and develop tools to eliminate the barriers youth experience when trying to access services. The event took place on Wednesday, February 18 at Access Community Health Center in Chicago.

The convening provided opportunities for attendees to:
  • Share ideas on how to improve care coordination for youth
  • Network to build stronger bridges to other providers in your community
  • Receive free toolkits on working with LGB/T youth, utilizing trauma frameworks, and providing comprehensive, youth-friendly sexual health care
