Radical Data Lecture with Becky Pettit
On August 28, 2013, Radical Public Health presented its first event
of this school year. Radical Data: How (Not) Counting Prison Inmates is
Concealing Racial Inequality featured a lecture from Becky Pettit,
professor of sociology at the University of Washington and author of
Invisible Men: Mass Incarceration and the Myth of Black Progress.
Pettit shared material from her book, focusing on the omission of
incarcerated men from many data collection methods.
