Radical Data Lecture with Becky Pettit

On August 28, 2013, Radical Public Health presented its first event of this school year.  Radical Data: How (Not) Counting Prison Inmates is Concealing Racial Inequality featured a lecture from Becky Pettit, professor of sociology at the University of Washington and author of Invisible Men: Mass Incarceration and the Myth of Black Progress.  Pettit shared material from her book, focusing on the omission of incarcerated men from many data collection methods.
