Chicago AHEC Receives Second Year Funding

Chicago’s Area Health Education Center (AHEC) has received an important green light to continue its work challenging health disparities by promoting diversity in the healthcare workforce. AHEC is a collaborative program of Health & Medicine Policy Research Group and the University of Illinois, and is part of a national initiative that promotes health careers and enhances the training of health professionals. Chicago AHEC’s purpose is to meet primary care & public health needs in the Chicago area through health career promotion, community-based student education, professional education and support and policy development. The program is designed to lead to jobs in the health professions along a continuum from entry level to professional. Funding was renewed by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), allowing the program to continue until March, 2013. More information on AHEC
