On Thursday, November 6th, Health & Medicine’s Executive Director Margie Schaps will speak on the “Role of Researchers in the Policy Development Process” at an event hosted by the Alliance for Research in Chicagoland Communities (ARCC)
The workshop event will be led by Kendall Stagg, Chief of Policy and Senior Advisor to the Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health. Ms. Stagg will share concrete examples of how academic partners assisted with policy research, development, and evaluation related to the City of Chicago’s recent portfolio of groundbreaking tobacco control initiatives. Participants will be invited to discuss how strong academic partnerships and recent lessons learned in tobacco control policy efforts can be applied to other Healthy Chicago priorities such as obesity prevention, cancer disparities, etc.
Ms. Schaps, along with Karen Reitan, Executive Director of the Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago
, will speak about their organizations and how they collaborate with researchers on policy development.
ARCC is a program of Northwestern University’s Institute for Public Health and Medicine's Center for Community Health. The session is open to all academic and community partners from across Chicagoland. More information is available here
