LGBTQ Book & Movie Drive For Juvenile Locked Facilities

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth are over-represented in the Juvenile Justice System.  With few resources, Illinois Youth Centers, along with many Juvenile Detention Centers, are working with Health & Medicine’s Court-Involved Youth Project to find ways to support them through policy development, training, and interventions.

You can help us to support these young people by donating to our LGBTQ Book and Movie Drive. With your help, we can make sure that youth have access to books and movies that reflect their identities.

You can support this book drive one of two ways:

  1. Visit our Amazon Wish List and purchase as many books and movies as you want to donate. These purchases will be shipped to us, where we can compile them and get them into each facility.
  2. Make a donation online by clicking here. When you make a donation, specify the program as “Court-Involved Youth Project,” and note “book drive” in the comment section.
Monetary donations will help us purchase two very important documentary films not available on Amazon. We also invite you to share this information and our book drive flier with your networks. Thank you for your support!
