Past Events:

Leadership by Example Lecture- August, 2011: Dr. Linda Rae Murray, President of the American Public Health Association and Chief Medical Officer of the Cook County Department of Public Health

Leadership by Example Lecture- July, 2011: Kathy Kelly, co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, a campaign to end U.S. military and economic warfare.

The first of three 2011 FFL Leadership by Example lectures took place on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011, featuring Dr. Richard David, attending neonatologist and co-director of the neonatal intensive care unit at Stroger Hospital of Cook County.  Dr. David inspired the crowd to stand in solidarity with others and continue to fight for the rights of the underserved.

Dr. David said, “The disparities now between rich and poor are greater than they were a generation ago.  Even when I talk about infant mortality rates I often throw in a slide of a street protest because the main forces that decide how society divides things up, whether we’re going to have money for another war, or whether we’re going to have money to keep Cook County Hospital open, these things are all connected.”
