In 1981, Quentin Young founded Health & Medicine as the state’s only independent local health policy and advocacy group to approach its work from a progressive, social justice position.

Since then, the organization has earned a reputation for its ability to convene strong community partnerships, shape health policy and services in Illinois, and articulate the relationship between national and local health trends and issues.

In 2009 we  launched the Quentin D. Young Fund for Health Justice, a board designated fund designed to allow HMPRG to respond to emerging health issues and challenges.
