Health & Medicine Policy Research Group is proud to announce that Andrea Kimpson, MPP(C), has been named the HiteHass Equity Intern and will be continuing with us in the current spring cohort to further her work in health policy and workforce development. Andrea first joined Health & Medicine in October 2024 as a Fall Intern while pursuing her Master of Public Policy with a specialization in Health Administration and Policy at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.
With experience in youth behavioral health research, local COVID-19 policy planning, and developing CMMI models for Alzheimer’s patient caregivers, Andrea is committed to driving systems-level change that prioritizes equity. Her work centers on using quantitative and qualitative frameworks to identify and advance policies that improve health outcomes for all communities.
The HiteHass Equity Internship was made possible by the generosity of Drs. Marsie Hass and Scott Hite, who established this named internship to advance the vision of Dr. Quentin Young, Health & Medicine’s co-founder. Their support helps cultivate future health policy leaders dedicated to bringing equity to healthcare.
“Although there have been many initiatives to further this goal by educating and encouraging doctors to view health equity as an inalienable right, the country has not yet come far enough to actualize Dr. Young’s vision,” say Drs. Hass and Hite.
Rooted in classical rabbinic teachings, they believe that social policy should provide extra protection to those at a disadvantage and are committed to continuing to promote equity in both health and medicine.
As the HiteHass Equity Intern, Andrea will continue her research on the nursing workforce shortage in Illinois, analyzing past assessments, identifying key policy priorities, and developing advocacy materials to help drive meaningful change. We are thrilled to have Andrea continue with us and look forward to the impact she will make in advancing health equity.
