Spring 2023 Equity Interns: Health & Medicine’s internship program provides an excellent opportunity for people wishing to begin a career in health policy with a focus on advancing health equity and eliminating and redressing structural inequities. Health & Medicine is especially interested in applicants who are pursuing a career focused on health policy, public health, social work, and advancing health equity. Priority will be given to graduate students who are currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a graduate degree program in the greater Chicagoland area. Applications close December 12, 2022.

Health Policy Analyst: Health & Medicine is looking for an analytical, detail-oriented teammate to be our next Health Policy Analyst. In this role, you will focus on advancing health equity in the areas of health reform and public health policy issues using excellent research, writing, and visual presentation skills. Working with the Policy Director, the Health Policy Analyst plays a foundational role in researching, analyzing, and advocating for policy, practice, and agenda reform opportunities in the following areas: 1) health safety net, 2) health system reform, and 3) health equity and public health, including structural inequities and social determinants of health. The Health Policy Analyst reports to our Policy Director. Our priority deadline is November 7, 2022, but applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled. 

Director, Chicago AHEC and Workforce Programs: Health & Medicine is looking for a collaborative, forward-thinking teammate to be our next Director of Chicago AHEC and Workforce Programs. In this role, you will lead the Chicago Area Health Education Center (AHEC), part of a network of centers throughout Illinois that provides a variety of regionally-based educational programs, health promotion efforts, and community-based outreach to increase entry into, diversity and equity, and retention within the state’s health workforce. The Chicago AHEC supports a cohort of undergraduate scholars each year, in addition to other educational activities. The Network is supported by funds from the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) through August 31, 2026. The Director reports to our Deputy Director. Our priority deadline is October 18, 2022, but applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
