Building a Healing Centered Future: A Day of Events Featuring Solutions from the Community

Register today: The Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative proudly joins partners, advocates, policymakers, and community members across Illinois in commemorating the fifth annual Trauma-Informed Awareness Day.  Join us on May 25, 2023, as we reflect on this year’s theme, Building a Healing-Centered Future: Solutions from the Community.

The day will begin at 10 a.m. with a plenary session focused on community-driven solutions to building a healing-centered future, followed by specialized, interactive breakout sessions. Register here for one or multiple sessions here.

Opening Session | 10 – 11 a.m. | Join us for Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton’s Keynote Presentation on why and how she is making trauma-informed and healing-centered policy and systems change in Illinois a priority.

Afternoon Breakout Sessions | 1 – 2 p.m. | 3 – 4 p.m. | The afternoon Trauma-Informed Awareness Day sessions will feature interactive discussions where attendees share their vision and ideas for solutions to address trauma and build a healing-centered future for Illinois.

1 – 2 p.m. Concurrent Discussion Sessions:

  • Health Session facilitated by Bridget Gavaghan, Director of the Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative, Health & Medicine Policy Research Group
  • Education and Youth Session facilitated by Gita Krishnaswamy, Deputy Director, Health & Medicine Policy Research Group

3 – 4 p.m. Concurrent Discussion Sessions:

  • Criminal-Legal System Session facilitated by Dr. Elena Quintana, Executive Director of the Institute on Public Safety & Social Justice at Adler University
  • Community Session facilitated by Marlita White, Director of the Office of Violence Prevention and Behavioral Health at the Chicago Department of Public Health
