Health & Medicine is excited to announce that board member Joe Zanoni has received an honorable mention for the 2023 Alice Hamilton Awards from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

Through a service project in the UIC School of Public Health’s Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences program where he serves as faculty, Joe and his team worked on guidance to protect temporary workers in work settings and to engage the workers, the staffing agencies and the host employers for education, dialogue, protection, feedback, and enforcement of health and safety laws and regulations.

This is one of the highest honors in occupational health and recognizes the outreach, continuing education, and research of Joe and his colleagues in worker centers and labor unions in Chicago and throughout the nation.
