Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”  Martin Luther King Jr.

As I read through hundreds of powerful MLK, Jr. quotes recently, this one stood out as perfect for our times. We are fortunate to live in a state that supports a woman’s right to choose, has expanded Medicaid, broadened health care for immigrants, and so much more. Yet, we must not become complacent.

This moment, like many others, calls upon us to speak out about the things that matter. It matters that we address structural racism and the systems that are in place to limit human rights and human potential.

As we celebrate the MLK Jr. holiday, I hope the words of Dr. King will inspire you to challenge yourself to be brave, bold, and work for change.
