Organization Summary
Health & Medicine Policy Research Group (Health & Medicine) is an independent non-profit health policy and advocacy center in Chicago working to improve the health of all people in Illinois by promoting health equity. Health & Medicine has a thirty-nine year history of promoting health justice in Chicago and Illinois through research, education, policy development, and collaboration.

Position Scope
Health & Medicine is currently seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to serve as a convener for the Public Health Workforce Partnership. The Senior Policy Analyst enables success of a Workforce Partnership by facilitating members to define shared goals and strategies, engaging broader stakeholders whose support is required for impact, and managing implementation of partnership efforts, and conducting policy analysis and strategy for moving policy at the local and state level.

Responsibilities
Partnership communication and engagement
The Senior Policy Analyst will promote active participation in the partnership among members (i.e., employers) and other critical stakeholders.
➢ Build relationships with partnership members and others (e.g., policymakers, foundations, IHEs,advocates, educators, and leaders from other sectors) whose support is critical to the success of the partnership
➢ Collaborating with the Funder Alliance’s Communications Director, provide periodic updates to major stakeholders, including partnership members, funders, other external stakeholders, and occasionally media, as well as develop a marketing and communications plan (CWFA supports communications for all its employer partnerships).
Partnership facilitation
The Senior Policy Analyst will facilitate partnership members and additional stakeholders tobuild connections and define shared goals.
➢ Structure and project manage the overall partnership experience
➢ Provide all needed administrative support to the public health partnership including agenda setting meeting scheduling, note taking, and reporting
➢ Facilitate providers to come to a consensus decision on partnership priorities and impact measures.
Project management
The Senior Policy Analyst will actively manage defined projects/activities that align to partnership priorities and impact measures.
➢ Provide project management leadership as providers define and execute activities
➢ Collect and analyze data to assess progress toward partnership goals

Policy Analysis & Advocacy
➢ Provide leadership and expertise on policy reforms that can help advance the public health workforce and develop strategy to move recommendations forward.
➢ Analyze local, regional, state, and national health policies and initiatives for the development of policy and program framing and implementation recommendations.
➢ Research, analyze, and visualize data relevant to policy development and advocacy.
➢ Develop research papers, policy briefs, factsheets, and presentations.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with 4 years work experience or Master’s degree with 3 years work experience
• Passion for health justice and/or health workforce development
• Excellent facilitation and training skills
• Excellent policy analysis and development skills
• Skill with facilitating consensus development among diverse stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to develop and sustain relationships with diverse partners
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously; efficiently manage time, effectively prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
• Capacity for, and comfort with, teamwork including working with volunteers
• Advanced competency in Microsoft Office; Ability to adapt and learn new technology, software, and equipment quickly

Work Environment
• Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment
• Sitting for extended periods is required
• Local travel to off-site locations throughout Chicago, suburbs and across Illinois occasionally required
• Work week is generally 9am – 5pm, some evening and weekend work required.

Note on Modified Work Environment During COVID-19 Pandemic
To protect the health of staff and to align with public health guidance, Health & Medicine staff have been working remotely since March 2020. Employees are required to have access to a working internet connection and phoneline that enable them to conduct their work. Health & Medicine’s modified work environment in response to COVID-19 are considered to be temporary and subject to change. We anticipate the work from home policy to be in place at least until the end of 2020 and will continue to monitor and be responsive to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Compensation
This is a temporary 14-month position, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position. Starting salary range $53,500-$59,500 annually depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits package including:
• 100% employer-paid health, vision and dental insurance
• 3 weeks (15 days) paid vacation per year in addition to paid sick time and 10 paid holidays
• 401K retirement plan, with employer contribution after one year
• 3 months fully paid maternity/paternity leave policy
