Opinion: Chicago’s Public Health Department gets alarmingly little funding from the city

“For current public health challenges — including the health equity imperative — and for preparedness for future public health emergencies, all jurisdictions need well-funded, high-functioning health departments. Chicagoans cannot afford for CDPH to continue being underfunded and understaffed. Starting with the 2024 city budget, Johnson and the Chicago City Council should sustain increased local investments in CDPH.”
