Building a Healing-Centered Future: Uniting for Transformative Action

May 23, 2024

Register today! On May 23, 2024, the Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative will commemorate Illinois’ sixth annual Trauma-Informed Awareness Day.

Join us at 10 a.m. as we reflect on this year’s theme — Building a Healing-Centered Future: Uniting for Transformative Action — and engage with local leaders from the state, county, and city level. This event will include simultaneous interpretation in Spanish.

Following opening emarks from Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton, Health & Medicine Executive Director Margie Schaps will moderate a panel discussion featuring Colleen Cicchetti, PhD, Healing-Centered Illinois Task Force; Kiran Joshi, MD, Senior Medical Officer, Cook County Department of Public Health; and Kathy Calderon, LCPC, Director of Mental Health Operations, Chicago Department of Public Health. The event will also feature remarks from Collaborative Director Kate McCormack.

“Trauma-Informed Awareness Day reminds us that healing is a collective journey that starts with understanding the impact of trauma,” says Lt. Governor Stratton. “Raising awareness and ensuring access to trauma-informed resources are key to breaking cycles of harm. Together, we can create communities where everyone is empowered to heal, grow, and thrive in the face of adversity.”

In addition to the webinar, we invite you to download and share our toolkit, which contains educational resources, sample social media messages, and ideas to participate in Trauma-Informed Awareness Day. Let’s work together to foster resilience and well-being across Illinois communities.
