Sara joined Health & Medicine in 2022 as a member of the Chicago Area Health Education Center (AHEC) team. As the AHEC Program Coordinator, she supports initiatives to recruit and retain a diverse health workforce. Sara was drawn to Health & Medicine because she knew that she wanted to directly serve Chicago communities by ensuring equitable care across all patient populations. She resonated with Health & Medicine’s bold commitment to health equity and how the organization is a leader throughout the city and the state.

She recently earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago with a focus on public health. Previously, she completed a fellowship with UNICEF as a part of their pandemic response in West and Central Africa to create COVID-19 trainings for community health workers, contributing to her holistic perspective on health education and equity.

Outside of her work at Health & Medicine, Sara enjoys spending time outdoors and loves hiking and exploring new neighborhoods in Chicago by bike. In her free time, she also likes to cook and hang out by the lake.
